Embry honored during Calendar Girl

Mrs. Kimberlea Embry and Cover Girl Karrington Hunt

During the Annual Calendar Girl pageant, Mrs. Kimberlea Embry was honored. Mrs. Embry has been teaching Family and Consumer Science for the last 34 years; 31 of those years have been at Butler County. In addition to teaching FCS classes, Mrs. Embry has been an FCCLA advisor for all those years. She has mentored countless students, encouraging them to run for regional and state office and persuading them to compete in STAR events, especially her beloved Parliamentary Procedures team event. Mrs. Embry has taken students across the United States to compete in national competitions. Last year, she took a team to Denver, Colorado, and the Parliamentary team placed third in the nation.

A group of Mrs. Embry's colleagues got together to nominate her for the Teacher Hall of Fame.  Only four teachers out of the thousands of teachers in the whole state of Kentucky received this honor.  Mrs. Embry will be inducted to the Hall of Fame in December.

Mrs. Embry received a standing ovation and given flowers.

“We are very blessed to have Mrs. Embry at BCHS and want to wish her good luck should she choose to retire at the end of the year,” said Principal Stoye Young.
