Don Locke: Lookin Thru the Bifocals
Thoughts: The mind is its own place. Ponder that some. Notice it doesn’t say The Mind has its own place.
For instance folks can be influenced to CHANGS their minds, but a rational person, one who knows enough to know you can’t push a one-handle wheel barrow, can’t be forced to erase something from his mind something he has heard.
I don’t know how common this is in real court cases, but on TV court shows, like Matlock or Perry Mason, a judge will say something like, overruled. “Let that be stricken from the record and I’m instructing the jury to completely erase this testimony from their minds.”
Wait a second, this begs the question: What mortal member of mankind has the power to command something be stricken from another person’s mind??? That is ridiculous; not only is it ridiculous, it’s the epitome of egotism; IT JUST AINT SO. Even if, perhaps, there may be a juror who thinks because a judge strikes an imposing figure; has power, education, influence and authority; maybe it should do what he/she says, yet I still can’t forget what I heard the witness testify to. It’s there in my mind. Thank God for that. And, thank God he made our mind to be its own place…regardless of “who shot John or who broke the spring on the outhouse door.” Personally I’ve always said if I’m instructed by a judge, or anybody else to this way or that, I remind myself I hear a judge from a higher calling.
This JUDGE (not the U.S. Supreme Court) is the one who said, “A Man shall leave his mother and a woman shall leave her home (get that MAN and WOMAN) God shall make the two of them one…
Also this JUDGE (not the U.S. Supreme Court) said, “Before I knitted you together and placed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you… fact is I knew you before the beginning of the world.”
Abortion equals murder. How could it not? The human embryo has a discernible heart beat five days after conception. Is that enough human for you?
Now then, the people who make our laws are either dumb as a box of boiled gravel about so-called, same sex marriage, and /or abortion, or they don’t give a big rat’s backside: a large percentage of both I would guess.
All the answers are in the BOOK my mother read. My mother, Gladys, not only read the BOOK with all the answers, she quoted it to me sometimes everyday- probably, mostly to keep me in line.
Gladys also gave me my first talk about the birds and bees. My daddy, Luther, was too shy to broach the subject. He even said “limbs” in reference to arms and legs. Anyway Gladys set me down when I was fifteen or so and gave me my first talk on where babies came from…(I think I already knew) She didn’t go into any detail. She simply said, “ If a girl ever tries to sit on your lap, you make her get up.”
Kindest regards…
