The scaremongers are at it again- have you noticed?
For years now we’ve been “running out of energy”; “running out of funds”; “running out of room”(over population); “Global Warming” is going to melt the polar ice caps; we’re all going to drown… “In fact they are melting already”. But now wait and see. Just in a span of a very few years they (strange nobody can seem to identify who “they” are) are now saying we are running out of fresh water- heck, I learned in 7th grade geography the polar ice caps were composed of fresh water. I suspect they still are. How can this be? How can we go from drowning (in fresh H2O) to dying of thirst, all but overnight?
As we said growing up, “somebody is tellin a big one.”
Over 150 years ago a gloomy Englishman by the name of Malthus wrote a book that frightened people out of their wits. He predicted the world was moving toward global famine. His agenda was that he wanted to see world population checked.
Turned out he was both short sighted as well as ignorant. He was judging the whole world by the rather scant tow by twice farming area of England.
As for food shortage, the U.S. Government’s Department of Agriculture is paying, as we speak, for farmers NOT to grow row crops. (U.S.D.A conservation Acreage Reserve). Food Shortage? 
About the fresh water- the North American Continent, what with the Great Lakes, and the Hudson Bay, is said to have the greatest supply of fresh water than any other continent in the world- added numerous other lakes and a multitudes of rivers, fresh water shortage??
Energy? – According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there are an estimated 50 to 127 billion (that’s “B”) barrels of oil still untapped in continental America. In addition, we have proved resources of 40.6 billion (that’s “B”) barrels.  We have a hundred years of PROVEN oil reserves, at PRUDHOE BAY ALASKA alone: that’s the start of the Alaska oil pipeline. Again according to the U.S. Geological Survey, we have 920 trillion (that’s “T”) cubic feet of potential natural gas reserves. Automobiles run well on natural gas- but you knew that.
The U.S.  (that’s us) has half of all the coal reserves in the non-communist world- 425 billion (that’s “B”) tons are immidately recoverable. That’s 800 years worth. Why can’t we get at it?
Because in 1969 and 1970 the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act and the Clean Air Act were passed. On August 3, 1977 then President Jimmy Carter signed this act into law, coal production crashed 30%.
In 1969 congress, under pressure and MONEY, passed the National Environmental Policy Act. Since then the environmental lobby has virtually controlled energy production in THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME (of the not-so-brave). All of this while the Democrats drove the train, and the Republicans played with their toys in the same box.
As for atomic energy, we currently have a 100-years worth of clean, safe, usable, non-weapons grade, atomic fuel resideing at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and that much or more at Hanford, Washington. Yet comparatively few atomic energy power facilities.
Nobody can seem to explain why the atomic power plant at Hartsville, Tennessee was suddenly scuddled after being almost completed… and zillions of taxpayer dollars wasted. You ask somebody that- Somebody that may know, and they look at you like a calf looking at a new gate.
Witness: Several of our U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines are atomic powered. Our newest carriers can operate 20 years before refueling.
