Don Locke; Lookin Thru Bifocals

Are they given names or only nick names?

I am a boy- once was. I hardly think I would ever want to be called TUFFY. The only Tuffy I ever heard- tell of was Tuffy Genette. I didn’t know him. I have talked to him on the phone. I ordered supplies from his company for my agriculture department back when I taught.

I wonder how many times he had to fight, having grown -up with that man. Then there is Buster. An old -times B-movie cowboy was buster (Larry) Crabbe. He had the muscles to prove it. Before he was a movie cowboy, he was an U.S. Olympic swimmer, and had a handsome face to go with it.

Movie actor, John Wayne’s, real name was Marion Morrison. Born in town; he played college football in California. I’d be afraid to call him, “Marion.”

Cowboy actor, Audie Murphy, was raised by a single mother in East Texas. Small- of- build, he looked to be about 10 years old when he was named the most-decorated soldiers, for bravery in World War II, including the Congressional medal of honor.

A real life, three tough guys once jumped him to see how tough he really was. They found out. Audie sent all three to the hospital. A half drunk wondered- in off the street at a Hollywood restaurant and tried to pick a fight with Roy Rodger. Ray and his Wife, Dale Evans were having dinner.

Witnesses say, Roy not only threw the fellow out the front door. Don’t mess with little guys. President General Ford once coached the boxing team at Harvard University. Was he tough on what? President Ford also held a private pilot airplane license.

The bible prophet, job, said, “when I meet face-to-face, it will be not as a stranger, but as a friend.”

God Bless… Kindest Regards…
