Don Locke: Lookin Thru Bifocals

Beyond the unknown: I saw this TV program advertised. I wondered how you get beyond the unknown. We can always learn something new, which we did not know; I suppose that is one way.

Then there are some things which are beyond our infinite minds. Then we must turn to the supernatural.

We read in The Bible when God’s Holy Spirit handed out talents: SOME HE GAVE THE GIFT OF Prophesy, and a hatful of other gifts. Example: some can sing, some of healing and have the gift of speaking, some; insight. All are not the same—However, there can be more than one gift per person: some, the gift of preaching, some counseling and some writing-all in one. Yes, the gift of speaking in tongues it is there.

In his book on angels, Billy Graham tells of an incident where a young child fell from an upper story to the ground.

The parents rushed down to find the child sitting peacefully on the front steps, “I fell, and the nice man caught me, then he was gone” the child told them. Angels. There are several places where the bible mentions “speaking in tongues.” The first of believers, was after Jesus ascended back to heaven seven days after his resurrection: “They were all in one place of one accord; all speak different languages because they were all from different tongues and cities. “Suddenly then came a mighty, rushing wind that lifted the place where they were, and flaming tongues came and sat upon each of them”- the first appearance of the God’s Holy Spirit. Although the bible says each person there spoke in OTHER TOUNGES they all heard each other, and understood each other, in their OWN TOUNGES, this was the day of Pentecostal. Before Christ ascended back to heaven, he told them IT is expedient that I go away, but I will send you another comforter until it comes again. He will guide and direct you in ALL THINGS. Jesus was of course speaking of THE HOLY SPIRIT. “He will be omni -present (in all the world at one time) “He told them.” He (the Holy Spirit) can’t come until I go away.”

He is still here! Praise GOD.

Kindest regards
