Don Locke: Lookin Thru Bifocals

November 6 :(As I write) -A day ago (November 5th) a mean man went into a church during Sunday morning service and murdered 26 people (women and children too) and sent most of the rest to the hospitals. This happened in the small town of Southerland, Texas not too far from San Antonio.

Invariably someone will say he was “mixed-up” “deranges” or “sick”...or some other malarkey. NO! The man was MEAN! Any other adjective WON’T DO. We don’t use the word “mean” much anymore. We want to try to soften it with a more liberal slant...to make it more “politically correct”.  “Politically Correct” is sending America to PERDITION on GREASED ROLLER SKATES.  We don’t want to offend someone or some faction.  Only the despots of the world, it seems, do not subscribe to political corrections.  They don’t give a big rats backside for it...not in their mindset.

Now our president is being castigated by his US opponents for calling Kim Jung Un of North Korea a “war monger” … in so many words.  I’m old enough to remember England’s Prime Minister Churchill calling Hitler a “Blood-Thirsty Gutter Snipe”, during World War II.  Bless you “Winnie”.

Recently I heard on a tv interview a popular Hollywood Liberal actor say that “Hitler wasn’t all bad”.  Well what in the name of “CARRIE’S CORSET” would anybody with both oars in the water call “bad.”

Well for starters, Hitler committed incest with his own young niece - after which she killed herself. He sent 8 million people to be killed in gas chambers. He murdered over 3 thousand of his own people, whom he thought tried to kill him.  Ain’t that plenty enough MEAN?

I’m confident some liberal would brand Roman Emperor CALIGULA (37-41 A.D.)- noted for cruelty - “not a bad sort”.

Well let’s see: He killed people he disliked on the spot.

He married his half-sister. He carried on a lurid affair with his sister in law. When he came to power he was 12 years old. He was a spoiled child. His nick-name was “little boots”. His parents outfitted him with a small pair of boots at a very young age. It is said they would hold him up and let him hit people in the face. He was told he was “cute”.

Growing up I knew a kid named Joe. He was a lot like this.  He talked mean to his parents - they thought it was funny.  When Joe grew up he killed a man, Joe wound up in prison for a very long time.

I’ll visit you again with a cartoon I once shared:  It depicted our largest city lying in ruins - New York City.  The statue of liberty was reclining flat with only the head visible...the rest covered in debris.  The caption read…”But we were politically correct.”

Kindest Regards...
