Dinner Kicks Off 2012 Festival of Trees

“We try to get people together as a community. One of the most thrilling things that happens is the festival of trees. The people who come here are really in the spirit of Christmas when they come in here and set up these trees for your pleasure.”  Those were the words of Geoffrey Henderson, Butler County Education Preservation Society President as he kicked off the 2012 Festival of trees dinner Friday night at the Cousin Don building on the square in Morgantown.

Holland catering furnished the holiday meal. That was followed by a question and answer period with historians Jean Hocker, Roger Givens and Charles Hutcheson providing answers. The topic this year was the upcoming 200th birthday of the city of Morgantown.

The festival of trees will open to the public Saturday and continue through December 9th.

The ladies who made it happen

This year’s panel was Roger Givens, Jean Hocker and Charles Hutcheson.
