Deputy Willow joins the Butler County Sheriff's Department

The newest member of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office is one of the four-legged variety ...Meet Deputy Willow. Born on August 16th of this year, Willow is originally from a farm in Rockfield, Kentucky and her family boasts an excellent German Shepard bloodline. Currently, Miss Willow is the only female deputy the Butler County Sherriff’s Office has ever had.

As all new deputies must go through training upon being hired, she will as well.  In December she will be leaving for about 6-8 weeks.  Once her training is complete, the deputies will then attend training as well to learn the proper commands and the best way to communicate and work with Willow.

Being a social member of the department, Willow will not be assigned to only one handler.  She will work with the SRO Deputies, the bailiffs in the courtroom, and will ride with the deputies at night as well.  This will give her the opportunity to experience multiple different scenarios and people as she learns about the county she is working in and her fellow deputies.

Willow is currently in the Butler County Sheriff’s Office every day of the week until she departs for her training.  Sheriff Ward invites the community to stop by when they have time to meet Willow in person.
