Democratic State Candidates Visit Morgantown

The 2011 slate of Democrat candidates for state offices rolled into Morgantown by motor coach Tuesday at noon. Speaking on the courthouse lawn were Former Kentucky Governor and U.S. Senator, Wendell H. Ford; Kentucky first lady, Jane Beshear; Lt. governor candidate, Jerry Abramson; state auditor candidate, Adam Edelen; state treasurer candidate, Todd Hollenbach and agriculture commissioner candidate, Robert Farmer. Senator Ford was introduced by Hugh Evans. “I’m sorry Steve is not with us but you know he does have a number one job and that is to be the governor of the commonwealth right now. He had several meetings that he had to attend,” said Jane Beshear to the crowd gathered.

“I’m a former teacher so education is extremely important to me,” said Beshear. Stating that they have two sons plus grandchildren she continued, “ I want to make sure that the schools and the job opportunities for our grandchildren are the very best that they can be.”

The Morgantown stop was one of 60 over a 12 day period according to Ms. Beshear
