Cub Scouts host First Responder Day
Over 80 Cub Scouts, parents, and volunteers from four counties turned out for First Responders Day at the Butler County Extension Office last Saturday. Josh Hutchenson, Scout District Executive, participated in the seven-hour program that kept everyone busy.
Cub Scouts is for boys and girls from kindergarten to fifth grade; they can then advance to Scouts. In the morning, there was BB gun and Archery practice.

One of the day's highlights was watching PHI Air Medical and Air Vac 62 land their helicopters in the field and talk to everyone about their part in everyday rescues.
Committee Chairperson for Morgantown Pack 208, Jessica Deweese, wants to thank Stephen Sublett and Brandon Keown for organizing all the first responders that demonstrated what they do in case of an accident and under all kinds of weather.
Butler County Rescue Squad, Butler County EMS, Morgantown and Rochester Fire Departments and the Morgantown Police Department were all present.

Morgantown Cub Scouts Pack 208 was the sponsor and involved Packs from three other cities - Pack 23, Tompkinsville, Pack 47, Franklin, and Pack 505 from Richardsville.
After the different types of first responders demonstrated their techniques for rescues, all the Scouts put together their first aid kit. Randy Richey from Pack 505 and A. J. Deweese, Pack 208 was also instrumental in putting this together. It takes many volunteers and teamwork and the Scouts enjoyed the day and made new friends.

One of the fundamentals of Cub Scouts is to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
