Cub Scout Pack 208 Hosts Annual Pinewood Derby

The Cub Scout Pack 208 groups from Morgantown held their annual Pinewood Derby race Saturday at 10:00am at the Morgantown Elementary School.

Given only a block of wood and a few basic parts, each Cub Scout was able to use their creativity and a little help from their parents to design their own unique car.

After all the boys were signed in, they placed their cars at the top of the track and watched as they raced down. The track that was used in the races was built by troop leaders Crystal and Kyle Coleman.

Family and friends were encouraged to also build a car and were able to race in the family and friends category.

Wesley Phelps was the overall winner of the event.

The rest of the winners were:

Pinewood Derby Race Winners:
Jared Hudnall – Second Place
Martin Brown – Third Place
Luke Laughing – Fourth Place

Turtle Race Winners:
Clayton Keown – First Place
Shane White – Second Place
Stetson Williams – Third Place

Family and Friends Winners:
Charlie Brown – First Place
Trevon Hunt – Second Place
Cody Calhoun – Third Place

The first, second, and third place winners of the derby will advance to compete in the District races held on April 28. Location of this event will be announced at a later date.

So proud of all the boys that raced. Your sportsmanship was outstanding. Thank you to all the volunteers who give freely of their time throughout the year. Without your dedication our boys would be unable to participate in these types of events which teach them so many valuable lessons. Have fun at District boys.
