Creating Blessings...one stitch at a time by: Christine Bratcher

Christine , Beverly Hayes, Maurleen Jasmine, Linda Pendley and Kathy Vernon and the "Dreaming of Trout Fishing" wall hanging

We have been very busy this month. We donated over 100 hats to the newborns at the Medical Center in October, many “pumpkin hats” that were a big hit.  We finished many more prayer shawls for Andrea’s Mission thanks to our faithful shawl knitters. We are finishing the Christmas hats for the babies and hats and scarves for our tree at the Festival of Trees. Dec 1-8. Then they go to the Family Resource Center for distribution. They are sooo beautiful and warm too.

Brenda Jenkins, inspired by Ann Bratcher, started crocheting a pink circle out of silky soft pink yarn, intending to make a vest, well…the circle grew and ruffles and creativity exploded and it became the prettiest warm silky pink coat pictured here.  She is making a hat to match.

Another creative artist, Maurleen Jasmine, finished her wonderful filet crochet trout. With the help of Kathy Vernon, Bev Hayes, Linda Pendley (who did all the machine sewing), Christine Bratcher and Danielle Bratcher it became a glorious quilted wall hanging. Shimmering blue fabric behind the crocheted part was the water and pebbled fabric was the shore. Maurleen hosted a luncheon to surprise her husband, an avid fisherman, with the wall hanging, and he was definitely impressed.

As I have said before, we do more than just knitting and crocheting. We also have a new member, Joyce, who can share all sorts of new techniques with us.  Get your hats in by Monday Nov 26 so we can decorate the tree that day after our class.  We will take down the tree Monday Dec 10 after our meeting.

Hope to see you all Monday at 11:00 am.
