Covid-19 case reported at North Butler

The Butler County School District has its first student case of Covid-19. According to a statement released by school officials, a student at North Butler Elementary has tested positive for Covid-19. This parent-reported case is the first confirmed case of Covid-19 in a Butler County school. The student, whose name cannot, by law, be released, attended school at North Butler on Thursday and Friday, September 17 and 18. The statement indicates that school officials are working with the Barren River District Health Department to identify all close contacts.

Butler County Schools are committed to daily sanitizing and routine cleaning procedures in order to mitigate the potential spread of Covid-19.  Custodial staff have undertaken a CDC approved cleaning regimen to ensure the safety and well being of all students and staff.

“In order to be as transparent as possible, we will be notifying the students and staff of the school affected, of any confirmed case of Covid-19,” said Butler County Schools’ Superintendent Robert Tuck.  “Parents and staff can expect notification of confirmed cases as they present themselves. We are committed to being transparent and proactive as we work through this unprecedented time together.”

Butler County Schools began the school year on August 26 with distance learning only. The district transitioned to a hybrid schedule with some in-person instruction on Monday, September 14.
