Corvac honored by Honda with "Quality of Excellence" awards

Corporate leaders and city officials were on hand Monday, July 23, as a local company was recognized for its work.  Corvac Composites, LLC, located on Industrial Drive in Morgantown, was honored with two Outstanding Awards from Honda - one of its primary cutomers. For the second year in a row, Corvac received the "Quality of Excellence" Award.  Additionally, the company received the "Excellence in Delivery" Award. Previously, Corvac has received similar awards from Toyota and Chrysler.  

Corvac produces plastic parts primarily for the automotive sector. Six years ago, they started with one plant and ten employees.  Today, Corvac has two plants and employs 170 people. Plant One produces the parts and runs three shifts.  Plant Two handles the packaging and shipment of the products and runs two shifts, shipping two to three trucks daily.

“Corvac has enjoyed great success in Morgantown despite a challenging economy,” said John Huber, Vice President of Operations.  This plant has supplied over 650,000 parts to Honda without defect.

Mark VanDeVelde, of Honda, traveled from Lincoln, Alabama to present the award. 

“I want to congratulate the entire team at Corvac, they have reached world class level,” said VanDeVelde. 

Honda’s 600 Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) suppliers provide parts to 14 Honda plants in North America. For 2012, the company honored 53 OEM suppliers for their excellence in one or more of three categories: Quality, Delivery and Value. According to VanDeVelde, Corvac is 1 of 10 suppliers receiving both awards.

“This group (employees of Corvac) is a very unique and special group, you are vital to our success, suppliers play a critical role to Honda,” added VanDeVelde.

“It is exciting to see people recognized for their hard work, said Kirk Weber, Material Manager.

Mayor Keown, Judge Fields and Rep. C.B. Embry, Jr.

State Representative C.B. Embry Jr., Butler County Judge-Executive David Fields, Morgantown Mayor Linda Keown, and Morgantown City Council members Terrell House, Rick Scott, Gary Southerland, Sharon Phelps, and Edra "Dean" Hampton were on hand to congratulate the employees and management of Corvac.

According to information provided by the company, Corvac Composites, LLC is a privately-held supplier of engineered thermoformed products to the transportation market. As a supplier of airflow management and water deflection systems to OEM and Tier Manufacturers for 20 years, Corvac Composites has developed a unique expertise in the design and development of thermoformed wheel liners, air deflectors, under engine shields, belly pans, and underbody aero covers for automotive applications.

Dana Gill is my middle child. When we moved to Morgantown a few years back she decided to make it her home. She has been there for 21 years now. Very proud of my girl.
