Clerk presents check for $291K, Arts Guild, 211 seek funds from court; Recreation Trail at Woodbury discussed

Butler County Fiscal Court met at the courthouse on Monday, February 26. All magistrates attended: Stevie Givens, Kevin Phelps, Allen Smith, David Whittinghill, and Dillon Bryant.  

With no old business on the agenda, the court quickly moved to new business.

The Butler County Arts Guild officers came before the court to ask for their annual donation. Due to price increases, they asked for an additional $500. Judge/Executive Tim Flener said the line item budgeted donation was set for $2,000. The court approved the budgeted $2,000.

Ellie Harbaugh, with United Way 211, addressed the court and provided information for the 2023 year. United Way 211 received 122 calls from Butler County and assisted 366 residents. The top requests were utility assistance and food concerns. The court approved a $2,000 donation.

Judge Flener shared information about a proposed Woodbury Recreational Trail Program with the court. The city of Woodbury is looking into a grant for the $260,000 project. According to Judge Flener, the grant has a 25 percent match ($70,000) and an agreement to maintain the trail and asked for help from the court. The court took no action and asked for more information concerning the project.

Butler County Clerk Sherry Johnson presented her 2023 final settlement(subject to audit) to the court. She presented a check for $291,587.66 to the court. CLICK HERE:county_clerk.pdf

After a closed session, magistrates approved advertising for the position of Butler County Treasurer. They will advertise in-house for one week and then open tRehe position to the public. Interviews will be held on March 21 starting at 9:00 a.m.

Third District Magistrate Allen Smith asked the court to purchase jump boxes for both ferries. The Court approved the request.

-Payment of State Transient Tax on Woodbury RV Park $51.46

-Transfer interest from ARPH Account to General Fund

-Transfer $35,000 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund

-Bills and transfers
