Clean-Up efforts net over 250,000 pounds of junk
Butler County Fiscal Court and the Morgantown City Council joined efforts to host the 3rd Annual Clean-Up Days over the weekend. Boat Factory Road stayed busy on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as the county road department collected over 250,000 pounds of junk from residents as of 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and they were open until 4:00 p.m, with people still coming.
"It was a huge success," said Butler County Judge-Executive David Fields. "Our city-county clean-up days grow every year and it's a great way to get a lot of junk collected and disposed of properly."
Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps agreed. "This is a great opportunity for both the city and county to work together in a way that benefits everyone," said Phelps. "We appreciate all who took part in the clean-up and look forward to doing it again."
According to County Road Foreman Timmy West, the numbers have continued to increase over the years.

The city-county clean-up comes on the heel's of last week's tire amnesty. According to Butler County Judge-Executive David Fields, 10 tractor-trailer loads of tires were removed from the county.
