Class of 1978 donates "Bear" to BCHS

The Butler County High School Class of 1978 made a unique donation to Butler County High School on Thursday morning. A large concrete Bear was placed in the landscaping in front of the school along with a marker.

Class members Marecia McCoy Moore, Lee Williams, and Angie Hack were on hand for the presentation.

Class members purchased the Bear and BCHS art teacher, Cartron Burdette, spent 13 hours hand-painting the statue. Class member Dwight Woolridge of Rose Hill Monument Sales donated the marker.

The Class named the Bear "Mel" which means courage, strength, and protector.
