Clark, Midway teammates headed to national tournament

The Midway University softball team, which features Butler County High School graduate Lynsie Clark, is headed to the NAIA Softball National Championship.
MIDWAY - Butler County High School graduate Lynsie Clark and her Midway University softball teammates are headed to the NAIA Softball National Championship.
Midway finished runner-up to Rio Grande in the 2018 River States Conference Softball Tournament.
No. 1 seed University of Rio Grande was declared the champion of the 2018 River States Conference Softball Tournament on Sunday. The RedStorm (35-11) earned the nod after winning the winner's bracket of the conference tournament with a 3-0 record.
No. 3 seed Midway University (23-20) was deemed the tournament runner-up after coming through the loser's bracket and being one of the final two teams remaining along with Rio Grande. Following the conference tournament, Rio Grande and Midway will be the RSC's two automatic qualifiers to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round.

Clark has helped to lead the Midway University softball team throughout the 2018 season. The Butler County High School product has been a full-time starter for the Eagles.
The brackets and pairings for the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round will be announced on Tuesday, May 8 at 5 p.m. ET on the NAIA's Facebook page. The NAIA Opening Round will take place May 14-16 at campus site around the country.
