City of Morgantown Leads the State with Youth Employment Program
Morgantown, KY – The City of Morgantown is proud to announce that 56 young adults from Butler County, ranging in age from 16 to college graduates, have been hired to work in various roles within city government this summer. These positions span departments such as parks, maintenance, office administration, and community programming.
This unique initiative is designed to provide valuable real-world work experience, teach critical job skills, and introduce young people to public service. Many of the participants are gaining their very first employment experience through this program.
What sets Morgantown apart is that it is the only city in the state of Kentucky offering to hire all County student not just residence of city. By investing directly in its young county residents, the city is helping build a stronger, more skilled local workforce while fostering pride and responsibility in the next generation.
“We’re incredibly proud of this program and the positive impact it has on our youth and our community,” said Mayor Billy Phelps. “It’s about more than just a summer job—it’s about preparing our young people for the future and showing them the value of hard work and service.”
The City of Morgantown extends its gratitude to all departments and staff who support this initiative and help make it a success year after year.
