Several people gave reports during the recent City Council meeting.
Housing Authority
The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of Morgantown met Monday, February 22, 2016 in regular session to discuss agenda items and the agency operations. An update on the kitchen and bathroom upgrades at Dabbs Tuck properties was discusses with satisfactory work in progress. Information was reported that the 2016 Capital Funds has been approved from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $252,571. The work items for this funding will be considered in accordance with our agency plan in upcoming months. Members expressed their appreciation for our agency receiving the recent High Performer Award of Excellence from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Election of officers were held with James Dossey being elected chairman and Iris Moore being elected as vice-chairman.

Training: Two classes have been held since February 1, 2016 with 15 in attendance for a total of 12 man hours, all classes since January 2016 equals 66 total man hours

Pertinent Information: Yearly service of all apparatus, extensive repairs of Engine 1, and minor repairs of Engine 6 and tanker 1, overhead lights repaired in station

Planning & Zoning
Bryan Locke reported they are starting to see some response from the Blighted Property Notices that have been sent out.

Morgantown Renaissance Plan
According to Jerrod Barks everything is within their timeline for the Renaissance Plan. City/County Clean-Up Days are set for April 14-16th. The City plans to plant 203 cherry blossom trees in the park and City on Arbor Day. A 14-foot gazebo has been donated to the City and will be placed outside the Eva J. Hawes Building. A Downtown Development Committee has been established. Members include Jerrod Barks, Melanie Hunt, Tommy Hines, Tristan Evans, Laurie Keen, and Jodi Chambers.

Audit Report
Gilbert and Gilbert CPA’s presented the City audit. The City received an unqualified opinion, which is the best you can receive. The general fund showed a $34,981 profit compared to a loss of $56,881 the previous year.
