The crafts and needlework donated to the silent auction at the Green River Museum Opening June 3 were especially nice this year. There was a Tunisian crochet kitchen set, two cowls, a shawlette and cute earrings that looked like tiny skeins of yarn knit and spun by the donator, a wool hooked pillow, a wool penny rug, a Swedish embroidery pillow, many crochet items in a handmade basket, a lap quilt and many, many wonderful things that went to raise money to support the Green River Museum. Mark your calendars for the first Saturday in June of next year so you don’t miss it, if you did. And you can always visit the museum on the weekends. The rooms are decorated so beautifully, it is as though someone lives there, and just stepped out.  The views of the Green River are always beautiful, so it is well worth the short trip outside of Morgantown.

Another craft related event this past weekend was the art show at Friendly Furniture. The pictures from here on Beechtree News and they were amazing. The artists in Butler County do not get the recognition they deserve. Thank you, everyone, who allowed anyone to look at your paintings, sculptures, and woodworking.

The Catfish Festival will start July 1st.  Entries for Adult classes are due June 29 at the Extension office. Entry forms and packets can be picked up there.  I usually enter something I have knit or crocheted because I want all the Butler County Knitters and Crocheters to enter some of their best work, but I think I will enter some jelly too.  I already have some taste testers volunteered – we’ll see.
