Christine Bratcher: Counting Blessings...one stitch at a time

Circle vest designed by Ann B

The Butler County Knitters and Crocheters have been busy with summer projects. Kathy V is finishing up her beautiful crochet socks, Maurlene J is working on a challenging fillet crochet piece, and Anna B and Brenda J are making wonderful freeform vests. Ann’s is bright colorful and Brenda J’s is pink, sparkly and so soft, amazing and beautiful.

baby hats just delivered to Medical Center

Gladys B outdid herself this past week making 26 baby hats for the Medical Center. She is a whiz and we (and the newborns) really depend on her.

layette for new baby made by Ann B

I am (still) finishing my purple prayer shawl and Ann made the nicest layette, blanket, jacket, booties and two hats for Andrea’s Mission for Angels. Sybil S had Custard Pie dishcloths on her needles and Linda P and Bev H were working on scarves. Kathy brought in 3 new pattern books to share too. I hope some of the pictures will inspire you too.

There aren’t many here on Monday’s in the summer, but there is still so much going on. We seem to continually work on making things for the school children at Christmas time, newborns at the Medical Center, Prayer Shawls for Andrea’s Mission and other needs, and serve as a collection point for anyone who knits or crochets these items and doesn’t know where to bring them.  We would also like to have a few layettes on hand for Andrea’s Mission when they need them. The nursing home always needs lap robes and bright ones (green and stripes are good) for the memory care unit. We still have plenty of time for working on, teaching and learning our projects too.  We are glad to have anyone drop by, any Monday, 11 am to noon in the meeting room at the library. We would love to see you. We have supplies for beginners, no charge ever.
