Chamber hosts July luncheon; MCRC presents program

The Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce held its monthly luncheon on Thursday, July 26, at the Butler County Extension Office.
Jamie Howard, Admission Director at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center (MCRC), was the guest speaker.  She spoke about how technological advancements in the medical field are impacting patients, especially in the areas of psychiatric care and wound care.  According to Director Amy Phelps, the use of psychotropic drugs at MCRC has seen a reduction from 75 percent to 40 percent since . 
 Howard also presented information about how “Telehealth” - the use of two-way video, smartphones, and other technology tools can expand access to high-quality health care, which can result in better care, and savings of time and money. 

 


“We are glad to be part of the community,” said Phelps.
In other news, although no financial numbers were presented, Chamber officials reported that the recently-completed Green River Catfish Festival was a success and showed a 16 percent growth over the prior two years.  A survey was presented at the luncheon seeking input for the festival. 

 

It was also announced that river mile markers have come in and will soon be placed on Green River.  Several upcoming community events were also publicized. 
July luncheon sponsors were WRECC, McDonald’s, True Value, The Banner, Bluegrass Oral Health, Logan Telephone, and C&L Used Cars.  The meal was catered by Green River Catering.
