Chamber hosts February luncheon

The Wonderful Pig receives the Community Improvement Award

The Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce held its monthly luncheon on Thursday, February 23 at the Butler County Extension Service office. Chamber President Jamie Chaney welcomed all of those in attendance including the visitors. The meal was catered by the Eastern Star of Banock Chapter #531.

The Chamber Board mixed things up a little this time having the speaker talk prior to the meal. This month, Doug Goodrum of Southeastern Displays, Inc. spoke to those in attendance about community advertising. Goodrum spoke to the audience about possible billboard designs promoting Butler County.

After the meal, Chaney presented the Community Improvement Award to The Wonderful Pig. Owners Danny and Cindy Taylor accepted the award (pictured at the top).

Other notes passed along at the luncheon included the deadline extension of the Community Cook Book to April 1st, the need for "Know Your Community" Sponsors, and updates to the Morgantown website at www.morgantown-ky.com.

The 2012 Catfish Festival will be held July 4-7.  Fireworks will kick off the Festival on Wednesday, July 4th.

The sponsors for the February luncheon were American Leather Direct, Butler County Public Library, Conway & Keown Attorneys at Law, Cool Springs General Baptist Church, Jones Funeral Chapel & Monument Company, Law Office of Richard J. Deye, Master One Tax Service, PBI Bank Inc., Propane Energy Partners, and Roger & Betty Southerland.
