Cell Phones for Soldiers drive continues

The cell phones collected during the drive

Beech Tree Media has teamed up with the non-profit group Cell Phones for Soldiers to collect and donate used cell phones to the program. The cell phones collected are sold to a recycling company and the money received is used to purchase phone cards. These phone cards are distributed to members of the U.S. military who have been separated from their families due to deployment; these phone cards help keep military personnel in touch with their families. We are proud to announce that our first shipment containing 34 phones will be shipped out soon.

Many thanks to everyone who has donated their used cell phones during our drive. You may continue to donate used cell phones at the Beech Tree Media Office, located at 107 W. Ohio St.

Cell Phones for Soldiers, founded by siblings Rob and Brittany Bergquist, has recycled over 10 million cell phones since its creation in 2004. Over 150 million minutes of free talk time has been provided to U.S. soldiers in this time. For more details on the program, visit http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/.
