Cardwell & Neighbors captures $1,000 in the 2nd Annual GRCF Open Bass Tournament

Nathan Neighbors and Daniel Cardwell took home the $1000 first place prize with five fish weighing 9.36 lbs.

Butler County Bassmasters held the second annual Green River Catfish Festival Open bass tournament at Green River on Saturday, June 26th.  The tournament was presented by Jackson Chiropractic.

Dr. Ryan Jackson presenting the money to Neighbors and Cardwell.

The river was in less than optimal condition due to the heavy downpours in the area, especially upstream, on Thursday.  The fish in Green River are just finishing up their spawn, with some starting to move into their early summer pattern, positioning themselves in heavy cover near deeper water, making them much more difficult to catch.
20 boats showed up to fish the event, an increase from the number of boats attending last year’s inaugural event.  This was the highest total purse for a bass tournament in Butler County history, with over $2,300 in cash and prizes being handed out at the weigh-in.

Second place went to Dan Elms and Larry Price with 6.62 lbs. Third place was Jason Daugherty and Beau Meuller with 6.61 lbs.

Big Bass went to Chris Johnson and Darrell Wilson with a 3.91 lb. largemouth.  For anyone wanting the complete tournament field results, you can visit the web-site at butlercountybassmasters.webs.com.

"This tournament is something our anglers have really started to look forward to annually.  We hope to continue with this every year.  We've got anglers coming from surrounding counties to fish our river and that's really what this tournament was designed to do, get people using our river and people coming to Butler County to experience probably our best natural resource.  We want to expand this tournament next year with hopefully even more community involvement, and continue to bring people into the county to experience the beauty of Green River and the great fishing opportunities here," said Daniel Cardwell.

BCB would again like to thank all of their members and 2016 sponsors for their commitment to the sport of bass fishing and our community.  Also, thanks to all of the vendors and sponsors that showed up at the ramp for the weigh-in. Vendors included Cabela’s, Interceptor Bait Co., Butler County Young Farmers Association, Butler County Youth Football.
BCB Sponsors taking part in the event include Cabela’s, Eagle Claw, Eagle One Car Care Products, CRT Sports and Monogram.  A very special thank you to Dr. Ryan Jackson and Jackson Chiropractic for making this event possible.
