The Kentucky Circuit Court Clerk’s Trust for Life (TFL) welcomes Butler County Circuit Court Clerk Melissa Cardwell as President of the organization’s Board of Directors.  Cardwell has been the Circuit Court Clerk of Butler County in western Kentucky since January 2007.

The Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ Trust For Life (TFL) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that informs, educates, and encourages Kentuckians to be registered organ & tissue donors to save lives.  TFL was founded in 1992 as the charitable arm of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks. 

Executive Director, Shelley Snyder, said that TFL staff and Board members are thrilled that Cardwell has agreed to serve as TFL Board President, “Melissa is a wonderful leader and will play a key role in helping us to grow our lifesaving mission.”

As Board President, Cardwell replaces former Clark County Circuit Court Clerk Paula Joslin who retired last year.   Cardwell has already served four years on the board.  The TFL Board of Directors is the organization’s governing body.  Board members meet quarterly to oversee TFL affairs.

“I am honored to serve as President for the Trust for Life Board, and proud to support Butler County at that level,” Cardwell said. “I hope to further our educational mission and encourage more people to join the Kentucky Donor Registry and give the $1 donation to support education programs.”

The dollar donations at Circuit Court Clerks’ Driver’s License counters and other philanthropic partners, including Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates and Kosair Charities, fund the statewide community outreach and public relations efforts to grow the Registry.  Kentucky was recognized by Donate Life America for highest increase in Registry rates in 2016.
