Candidate Cody Donaldson- 2nd District Magistrate

Butler County’s 2nd District,

Hello, my name is Cody Donaldson and I am writing this letter to you in order to introduce myself, ask for your vote and provide you with a written letter of my intent if elected as your 2nd District Magistrate.

I am 39 years old and have lived in Butler County’s 2nd District for 12 years. I have been married to Megan Donaldson (a lifelong resident of Butler County) for 10 years. I have two beautiful daughters Ivy (19) and Piper (6). I am the Assistant Principal of Butler County Middle School and have been employed with the Butler County School System for 8 years. I have an Associate’s Degree in Political Science from Middle Tennessee State University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education from Western Kentucky University, a Master’s Degree in leadership from the University of the Cumberland’s, and will complete my Rank 1 and Doctorate in administration from Western Kentucky University in the fall of 2018. Although, I am not originally from Butler County I have been very active in the Butler County community and thoroughly enjoyed raising my family, living and working here. After discussing it with my wife and we decided that my active part in the community would benefit those more, in our district, and all of Butler County as 2nd District Magistrate.

Over the past few months I have been talking and listening to many of the citizens in our district, and many of their concerns can be summed up with one word-frustration.  They are frustrated with the “good ole boy” system, they are frustrated with the direction of the county, they are frustrated and concerned about the county’s future for their children and grandchildren: and they are frustrated with the perception others have of the place they call home. I too share their frustration.

As a result of that frustration, I will use my leadership experience, and ability to work with ALL the elected officials to be a part of defining the direction of our county. We must come together to develop a comprehensive plan, develop a vision, a mission, and long and short terms goals. I will advocate the needs of my district in Fiscal Court as well as working together with ALL magistrates to advocate at the state level, the needs of Butler County.

In 2015, I made it clear that I would be running for the office that represents our district in Fiscal Court. I am not a part of the “good ole boy” system and am not afraid to shake the tree with new ideas and forward thinking.

My intentions and solutions are simple.  I will work hard to see Butler County develop a stronger working class, and use our geographic location and advantages to attract, educate and retain that workforce.  “Attracting” doesn’t necessarily mean people new to Butler County, it means being able to retain our educated youth, the young people that have a vested interest and love for the county they are from. We have jobs here and there are “Now Hiring” signs all over the county to prove that.  We just need people to fill those jobs!  We will never be able to attract higher paying jobs if it is obvious we can’t fill the ones that are available now.

In addition, I have been working and discussing with state officials the need to expand high-speed internet access through the 2nd District and the county.  It is very difficult to sell a house or expect to attract the middle-working-class without accessibility to high-speed internet. As I have said on my Facebook page, “Cody Donaldson for 2nd District Magistrate”, the internet IS the railroad of this century and Butler County cannot keep falling farther and farther behind.

In closing, I would like to invite everyone out to the 2nd District Fire Department at 5:00 p.m. on April 21st, 2018 to meet all of the candidates, and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.  I would like to thank each and every one that has spent their time to discuss their concerns with me, and I would like to thank Beechtreenews.com for this opportunity to reach more citizens.

Absentee Ballots are available after April 1st, and early absentee voting begins at the courthouse on May 4th.

South 2nd polling place is the 2nd District Fire Department

North 2nd polling place is at Butler County High School

I please ask for your vote on May 22nd as 2nd District Magistrate because I will be a working Voice for you.

Sincerely,

Cody Donaldson
