Butler County's Kimberlea Embry Receives KY Farm Bureau Career &Technical Education Award

FRANKFORT, KY – Eight Career and Technical Education (CTE) professionals received 2020 CTE Awards at a live-streamed ceremony at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville July 24, 2020. The Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance sponsor the annual CTE Awards. The awards program is conducted by the Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education (KACTE). Kentucky’s 2020 CTE Award recipients will be entered in regional competition for 2021 Association for Career and Technical Education national CTE award recognition.

KIMBERLEA EMBRY’s lifetime achievement cites devotion to her professional career, enhancing professional development, CTE programs, Family and Consumer Sciences education, and Butler County High School where she has taught the past 30 years. It earned her the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Her service includes CTE coordinator and advising on federal CTE Perkins Act funding and management of the Technical Education Data System (TEDS). She has contributed to new statewide curriculum, notably in Child Services I and II. She aligned curriculum to guide students in obtaining credentials and associate degrees. She has served with distinction in many CTE professional associations.

Kentucky’s eight 2020 CTE award recipients were presented their awards by KACTE Awards Committee Chair Laura Spiegelhalter, KACTE President Kelli Dickson, and Kentucky Farm Bureau representative Kyle Kelly. The recipients are:

   Ashley Rogers, Nicholas County High School, Career and Technical New Teacher of the Year.

Lauren Williams, McCracken County High School, Carl Perkins Community Service Award.

Jessica Harley, Frankfort High School, Career Guidance Award.

·         

Dr. Kim Bellah, Murray State University, Career and Technical Teacher Educator of the Year.

·         

Jodi Adams, Kentucky Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTEST), Career and Technical Administrator of the Year.

·         

Dr. Kemaly Parr, Murray State University, Career and Technical Postsecondary Teacher of the Year.

·         

Kimberlea Embry, Butler County High School, Lifetime Achievement Award.

·         

Lisa Sletto, Beechwood High School, Career and Technical Teacher of the Year.

 

The Kentucky Association for Career and Technical Education (KACTE) is a non-profit professional association representing teachers and administrators at all levels of instruction (middle school, high school, Career Technology Centers, Area Technology Centers, technical and community colleges, and universities) and in all Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching pathways: Agriculture, Business, Construction, Engineering and Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences, Information Technology and Media Arts, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Transportation.
