Butler County Well Represented in KY Lineman Rodeo

Congratulations to the Warren RECC Rodeo Team who recently traveled to the Boone County Fair Grounds in Owenton, KY and competed in the 2012 Kentucky Lineman’s Rodeo with Owen Electric Cooperative hosting the event.

The first Kentucky Lineman’s Rodeo was in 2005 and more than 70 linemen from 11 Kentucky electric co-ops met at training facilities to compete. Since the rodeo began seven years ago, recordable accident incident rates have dropped 32 percent. In 2005 the overall rate among co-ops was 6.49 and in 2010 had dropped to 4.43.

Events at the rodeo include pole climb, phase swap, hurtman rescue, and a mystery event. Event judges Phillip Morgan, Chris Burden, David Hatcher, Tim Rhoades and Gregg Weathers. Clerk- Theresa Davis served as event Clerk.

Apprentice- New to the team, Ryan Fazel, competed as an Apprentice.

Individual Journeyman- Ben Parrigan competed as an Individual Jouneyman.

Journeyman Team
Mark Cardwell, Chad Cox and Paul Filburn, Team #1, represented Warren RECC in the Journeyman Team Class and placed 3rd in the team mystery event #1 - Primary Phase Change.

Zak Wren, Trevor Brown and Chris Law, Team #2, placed 1st in the Mystery Event Phase Change, placed 2nd in Mystery Event #2  -Three Phase transformer bank change out and also placed 3rd overall in the Journeyman Team Class.

Lance Moore, Corey Weaver and Cody Sullivan, Team #3, represented Warren RECC in the Journeyman Team Class with a job well done.

All employees that represented Warren RECC did so with the highest degree of Professionalism and Spirit that makes this co-op one of the top Cooperative’s in the state.

I am very proud linewife!!! It takes a lot of hard work, long sleepless nights and dedication to do what these lineman do every day!!They take alot of pride in what they do daily and also at these Rodeos.They deserve alot more recognition than they get, so I want to say a big thank you to Beech Tree News for this article!!!!And also Thank You to all the WRECC guys for your hard work and dedication!!!
