Butler County Softball rolls past mid-season mark

Amy Rogers is safe at home.

The Butler County Bears' softball rolled past the midway mark of their season recently with several wins and a few losses.  On Monday, April 29, the Bears defeated Logan 12-1; dropped a 5-0 decision to 12th District foe Edmonson County on April 25; defeated Grayson County 3-1 on April 23; and beat Todd County Central 10-0 on April 22.  Butler County took part in the Greenwood Border Battle on April 19-20.   The Bears beat North Hardin 2-0 and Russell County 6-4 on Friday night.  On Saturday, Butler fell 4-0 to the Christian Academy of Louisville and lost 4-3 to Louisville Eastern in 8 innings.

Amy Rogers and Natoshia White carried the Bears to a 12-1 win in six innings over Logan county on Monday at Logan.
Rogers rocked Logan County with two home runs. Rogers went 3-4 in the game with four RBI’s and three runs scored. Rogers homered in the first and fifth innings.

The Bears hit four home runs in the win. Home runs for the Bears came when Natoshia White homered in the first and third innings and Rogers homered in the first and fifth innings.

The Bears blew out Logan County thanks to 14 hits, including six extra base hits. Morgan Manning recorded the win for the Bears. She allowed one run over six innings. She struck out four, walked none and surrendered six hits. The Bears never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on two solo home runs.
The Bears got one-run rallies in the second inning and the third. In the second, the Bears scored on an RBI single by Madeline Drake, bringing home Jazmin Reynolds.
The Bears scored three runs in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with three more in the fifth. In the fourth, the Bears scored on a passed ball, scoring Payton Grubb.
The Bears piled on two more runs in the top of the sixth. A error scored Manning for the inning's first run.

The Bears lose 5-0 to Edmonson County

Lynsie Clark got on base three times in the game but the Bears still fell to Edmonson County 5-0 in seven innings at Edmonson.

Carnes got the win for Edmonson County. She tossed seven innings of shutout ball. She struck out six, walked three and surrendered three hits.

Edmonson County's Simon, Rich, and Turley combined for seven hits and four RBIs.

Edmonson County didn't relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the third inning when it scored on an RBI single by Carnes and a two-run triple by Turley.

Butler County 3, Grayson County 1

The Bears' three first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 3-1 win over Grayson County at Butler County. The Bears staved off Grayson County as Grayson County was unable to match the Bears down the stretch.

Grayson County scored one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Decker. Still, Grayson County couldn't draw even.

Lynsie Clark went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Bears. She singled in the first, third, and sixth innings.

Morgan Manning got the win for the Bears. She allowed one run over seven innings. Manning struck out two, walked none and gave up six hits.

The sixth inning saw Grayson County score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Decker.

The Bears drub Todd Co., 10-0

Todd Co. didn't have a chance as the Bears won in blowout fashion, 10-0 in six innings at home. The Bears scored three runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Madeline Drake and an RBI single by Lynsie Clark.  Hannah Peach and Lynsie Clark both homered in the win.

Lynsie Clark racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Bears.

The Bears' Morgan Manning kept Todd Co. off the scoreboard for all six innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out nine.

 The Bears surrender eighth inning lead to Eastern in 4-3 defeat

The Bears lost the ballgame after losing the lead in the eighth inning at the Greenwood Boarder Battle, as Eastern grabbed a 4-3 victory in eight innings at Greenwood.

Eastern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Bears scored one run in each of the second, sixth and eighth. In the second, the Bears scored on an RBI double by Jazmin Reynolds, scoring Hannah Peach.

Eastern went up for good in the eighth, scoring two runs on two singles.

The Bears lose 4-0 to Christian Academy-Louisville

Madeline Drake did all she could to give the Bears a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past CAL, as the Bears lost 4-0 in seven innings at Greenwood.

Drake was solid at the plate for the Bears. Drake went 2-3. She tripled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Morgan Manning handled CAL's lineup with ease, racking up five strikeouts. Manning allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk over six innings.
The game was never in doubt after the third, as CAL scored two runs on a groundout  and an RBI single.

CAL added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Bears survive Russell County rally, escape with 6-4 victory

Russell County was never able to get over the hump and overcome its troubles against the Bears, as Russell County fell 6-4 at Greenwood after falling behind by five runs in the fifth inning.

Russell County scored three runs in the sixth on an error, a sacrifice fly by Simpson, and an RBI triple by Hadley. Unfortunately, Russell County wasn't able to take the lead back.

Amy Rogers had two extra-base hits for the Bears. She tripled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Morgan Manning picked up the win for the Bears. Manning allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.

The Bears were sparked by Rogers and Manning, who teamed up for four hits and two RBIs.

The game's last lead went to the Bears thanks to a third inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI triple by Rogers.

A one-run fifth inning helped bring Russell County within one. An RBI single by Helm gave Russell County life. Finally, Manning got Best to strike out to end the threat.

The Bears scored four runs of their own in the fifth. The Bears scored on an RBI single by Natoshia White, an RBI single by Manning, and a two-run single by Hannah Peach.

The Bears escape North Hardin behind Manning's three strikeouts, 2-0

An ace performance by Morgan Manning lifted the Bears to a 2-0 win in seven innings over North Hardin on Friday at Greenwood tourney.

The Bears' Manning kept North Hardin off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up three.

Amy Rogers helped the Bears pull ahead for the duration in the sixth inning. Taylor King struck out to get on base in the sixth. She then went from first to second on an error.
