Butler County Softball 17-8

 Bears beat Warren Central in six innings

MORGANTOWN - Butler County made itself at home on the road on Tuesday, pulling away to beat host Warren Central 12-2 in six innings in a late-season high school softball game.
With the win, Butler County improved to 17-8. Warren Central dropped to 1-19 with the loss. The Bears outhit Warren Central 9-3 and committed only one error. Warren Central committed three errors in the loss.Butler County set the tone early, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the first inning.
Kylee Smith was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears. Smith went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out seven and walking zero.
Two other pitchers, Evyn Frazier and Allie Hunt, helped to close out the game in the circle for the Bears, working out of relief roles.
Warren Central pitcher Hannah Massey took the loss. Massey allowed eight hits and 11 runs over two and a third innings, striking out seven.
McKinney helped to lead the Butler County offensive attack, clubbing a walk off home run for the Bears. McKinney and Amber Thacker each collected multiple hits for Butler County in the victory. Thacker led Butler County at the plate, finishing 3-for-4. McKinney and Thacker collected two RBIs apiece in the winning effort.

 Bears turn back Owensboro, 10-2

MORGANTOWN - Host Butler County scored first and never trailed on its way to beating 3rd Region rival Owensboro 10-2 in a late-season high school softball game on Monday.
With the win, Butler County improved to 16-8.Owensboro dropped to 10-20 with the loss. The Bears doubled up Owensboro 14-7 in the hits column and won despite committing four errors.
Butler County pitcher Kylee Smith threw a complete game and earned the win. Smith surrendered two runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Owensboro pitcher Marlee Spain took the loss. Spain allowed 14 hits and 10 runs over six innings, striking out one and walking one.
Tori McKinney, Olivia Jones, Autumn Proctor and Dixie Garnier led the Butler County offensive attack with two hits apiece. McKinney delivered four RBIs while Garnier drove in three runs for the Bears.Kaylyn Sowders paced Owensboro at the plate, finishing 2-for-4. The Lady Devils committed two errors in the setback.

 Bears finish 2-1 in Coach Jesse Huff Invitational

MADISONVILLE - The Butler County Bears finished 2-1 in the Hopkins County Central-hosted Coach Jesse Huff Invitational held Friday (May 11)-Saturday (May 12). Butler County notched wins over host Hopkins County Central and North Hardin while dropping a one-run game to Calloway County.

Butler County 8, Hopkins County Central 1: Butler County pulled away to beat host Hopkins County Central 8-1 on the opening day of the Coach Jesse Huff Invitational on Friday.
Hannah Chaney and Autumn Proctor each hit a home run for the Bears in the victory. Proctor, Olivia Jones, Aleace Hall and Dixie Garnier each delivered multiple hits for the Bears. Jones went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Butler County's offensive attack. Butler County pitcher Kylee Smith pitched a complete game and earned the victory in the circle. Smith surrendered only one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.


Butler County 9, North Hardin 4: Remaining in the win column, Butler County knocked off North Hardin 9-4 in the Coach Jesse Huff Invitational at Hopkins County Central on Saturday.
Kylee Smith was the winning pitcher for the Bears. Smith pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits and four runs while striking out three and walking zero. Butler County outhit North Hardin 13-10 and committed only one error. Continuing to produce at the plate, Hannah Chaney hit another home run for Buiter Countty in the victory. Chaney, Amber Thacker, Bayleigh Alford, Olivia Jones and Dixie Garnier each collected multiple hits for the Lady Bears. Thacker went 3-for-5 at the plate for the Butler County softball team.
North Hardin committed two errors in the loss.
Calloway County 4, Butler County 3: Butler County fell short in its final game in the Coach Jesse Huff Invitational at Hopkins County Central as Calloway County, an opponent out of the 1st Region, plated two runs in the top half of the seventh inning to battle back to win 4-3 on Saturday.  Calloway County outhit the Lady Bears 12-7 and committed only one error.
Butler County committed two errors in the setback. Kylee Smith took the pitching loss for the Bears. Smith pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on 12 hits while striking out four and walking zero over seven innings. Autumn Proctor led Butler County at the plate, connecting for two hits in four at-bats.

Butler County drops one-run game to Russellville

RUSSELLVILLE - Butler County fell short on the road as host Russellville plated one run in the bottom half of the eighth inning to win 9-8 in a high school softball game on Thursday (May 10).
Russellville, a team out of the neighboring 4th Region, plated four runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to force the game into an extra frame. Homestanding Russellville outhit the  Bears 12-10 over eight innings. Russellville pitcher Addie Mosier pitched a complete game and earned the win. Mosier allowed 10 hits and eight runs while striking out 11 over eight innings.
Butler County pitcher Kylee Smith took the loss. Smith, one of the top pitchers in the 3rd Region, allowed 12 hits and nine runs while striking out four over seven and a third innings.
Chloe Whitescarver led Russellville at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Amber Thacker and Hannah Chaney each managed multiple hits for the Lady Bears in the setback. Thacker went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Butler County in the hits column. Helping her pitching cause at the plate, Smith delivered two RBIs for the Lady Bears.
Butler County struggled defensively, committing seven errors. Russellville overcame five errors to earn the win.
