Butler County Schools Welcomes Students for the 2024-2025 School Year with Renewed Commitment to Strategic Vision

Morgantown, KY - August 14, 2024 - Butler County Schools is excited to welcome students back for the 2024-2025 school year, marking the beginning of a new chapter focused on educational excellence and personal growth. As students return to the classroom, the district continues its commitment to the goals outlined in its strategic plan, emphasizing deep learning, real-world experiences, and the development of durable skills that prepare students for life beyond school.

Superintendent Robert Tuck expressed his enthusiasm for the new school year, stating, “As we open our doors for the 2024-2025 school year, our focus is on more than just academic success; we are committed to shaping well-rounded individuals who are equipped with the skills and mindsets needed for the future. Our strategic plan is our guide, ensuring that every student in Butler County Schools receives an education that is both meaningful and transformative.”

Central to the district’s strategic vision is the Profile of a Learner, which emphasizes the development of key durable skills: Character, Problem Solving, Communication, Collaboration, and Global Citizenship. These skills are essential in shaping students into responsible, critical thinkers who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world. The district has been working diligently to create learning environments that foster these skills through updated curricula, expanded real-world learning opportunities, and a focus on student-led conferences and exhibitions of learning.

Josh Belcher, Assistant Superintendent, emphasized the importance of these efforts, quoting directly from the plan: “Our goal is to ‘equip students with durable skills that are essential for their future success.’ This means creating learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom, providing opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and develop skills that will serve them throughout their lives.”

At Morgantown Elementary, Principal Hunter Gary highlighted the importance of these initiatives in enhancing student engagement and community involvement. “At Morgantown Elementary, we are excited to align our daily practices with the district’s strategic goals. By focusing on durable skills and real-world experiences, we aim to cultivate a love of learning and a sense of responsibility in our students. This year, we are encouraging our families and community members to actively participate in our students’ educational journeys, knowing that their support is crucial to our success,” said Principal Gary.

Butler County Schools serves the many communities of Butler County, with a mission to inspire and equip all students to be lifelong learners and productive citizens. The district is proud of its dedicated staff and strong community partnerships, which are integral to creating a positive and enriching educational experience for all students.
