Butler County School Gardens
The nutrition staff at North Butler Elementary School and Morgantown Elementary School have gone above and beyond to incorporate the yield from the school gardens into the daily lunch meal. The ladies embraced the garden project and quickly set out to provide the kids with some new vegetable options.
Students roasted vegetables and made delicious zucchini bread! Students were served a sample portion during lunches over the past two weeks. Some students were reluctant to try the new dish and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the vegetables taste when roasted.
Students at both Butler County elementary schools will have the chance to try more garden vegetables in the future as they continue to work together on their new school gardens.
The school gardens are a collaborative project between the Butler County Family Resource Center, Butler County Young Farmers Association and Butler County Schools.
