As Kentucky observes School Board Recognition Month in January, Butler County  joined in the celebration with recognition at the January 12, 2021 Board meeting.

Ryan Daugherty, Rich Ellis, Debbie Hammers, Delbert Johnson, and Dr. Amy Hood Waddle are among the more than 850 school board members in the state’s 171 local school districts being recognized this month for their service.

“This is the perfect time to thank school board members for serving in a role that has become increasingly complex,” said Ronnie Holmes, president of the Kentucky School Boards Association and chairman of the Graves County school board.

“Members of the Butler County Board of Education are responsible for making decisions aimed at ensuring that every child in their district has a chance to be successful both in school and in life,” Holmes said. “To do that, members oversee a 16-million-dollar budget, keep up with changing education laws and policies, and spend hours on professional learning and state-mandated training.”

“Our board members work diligently to continue to build a district that is student centered.  Each member brings a unique dynamic and perspective that makes for a strong and effective board,” said Superintendent Robert Tuck.  “It has been an honor and pleasure to work with this great team of individuals.  Butler County Schools will continue to move forward due to their unified leadership.”

Butler County School board members, elected by the people, are responsible for our community’s most precious resource and the key to its future – our children and their educational opportunities.

School Board Recognition Month in January is a good time to recognize Butler County School District board members for their work. It’s my hope that the people in our community will take a few moments this month to thank them and to learn more about the work of our school board members who bear the tremendous responsibility of ensuring the long-term success of our school system – and of our community’s children.

Also, during January, please use social media to share your appreciation of school board members by using the hashtag #LoveKySchoolBoards.
