Butler County ranked fourth in Class 3A, District 2

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is ranked fourth in the Preseason Class 3A, District 2 Rankings.
The Class 3A, District 2 Rankings are published in The Cats' Pause 2023 Kentucky Football Yearbook. 
The Bears are ranked ahead of Adair County (5) in the Preseason Class 3A, District 2 Rankings.
Butler County is listed behind Glasgow (3), Franklin-Simpson (2) and frontrunner Hart County (1) in Class 3A, District 2. 
Via the Kentucky High School Athletic Association's realignment, Butler County made the move up from Class 2A. Butler County compiled an 8-3 record in the 2022 high school football season. The Bears made an appearance in the 2022 KHSAA Class 2A Playoffs. 
Previously, Butler County competed in Class 2A, District 2. 
Under the direction of Coach Brandon Embry, Butler County opened preseason practice in July, following the conclusion of the KHSAA Dead Period. 
The Bears will compete in Class 3A, District 2 for at least the 2023 and 2024 high school football seasons. 
Butler County is preparing to take the field for its 2023 season opener. The Bears are scheduled to meet Russellville in the Logan County Bowl at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18. 
 
Bears' 2023 schedule set
 
MORGANTOWN — Butler County's schedule is set for the 2023 high school football season.
The Bears' 2023 schedule consists of one game at a neutral site, four home games and five away games. 
Brandon Embry-coached Butler County is scheduled to meet Russellville on a neutral field for its 2023 season opener. Butler County and Russellville are matched up in the Logan County Bowl at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18. 
The Bears are slated to host Webster County (Friday, Aug. 25), Franklin-Simpson (Friday, Sept. 22), Glasgow (Friday, Oct. 20) and Ohio County (Friday, Oct. 27) for home games in the 2023 high school football season. 
Butler County is scheduled to visit Warren Central (Friday, Sept. 1), Grayson County (Friday, Sept. 8), Hart County (Friday, Sept. 15), Bethlehem (Friday, Sept. 29) and Adair County (Friday, Oct. 13) for away games during the upcoming prep football campaign. 
The Bears excelled throughout the 2022 high school football season, finishing 8-3. 
Butler County notched wins over Russellville, Edmonson County, Breckinridge County, Grayson County, McLean County, Todd County Central, Clinton County and Ohio County during the 2022 high school football season. 
The Bears dropped games to Hancock County, Owensboro Catholic and Murray in 2022.
