MORGANTOWN - Butler County is ranked first in the 3rd Region Girls' Basketball Rankings.

Through its initial 11 games in the 2021-22 girls' high school basketball season, Butler County is 10-1.

Butler County's 3rd Region-leading RPI is .66751.

Following Butler County in the 3rd Region RPI Rankings are Owensboro Catholic, Meade County, Breckinridge County, Daviess County, Apollo, Owensboro, Ohio County, Muhlenberg County, Edmonson County, Hancock County, Trinity (Whitesville), McLean County, Grayson County and Cloverport.

RPI stands for Ratings Percentage Index. It is a way to measure a team’s strength relative to other teams, based largely on the strength of their schedules. The RPI formula is used by both the NCAA and NAIA, along with many high school associations and among other organizations, as part of their postseason system. RPI is calculated from the team’s Winning Percentage (WP), the Opponent’s Winning Percentage (OWP) and the Opponents’ Opponents’ Winning Percentage (OOWP). The KHSAA is uniquely positioned to be the sole and authenticated source of RPI data due to the maintenance of required score reporting and scoreboard data for Baseball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Football, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball.

Head coach Lexie Belcher guides the Lady Bears.

Butler County is scheduled to visit Grayson County for a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 14. Tip-off for the Butler County-Grayson County girls' basketball game is set for 6 p.m. in Leitchfield.
