Butler County places third in state indoor track & field meet, Chambers & Smith State Champions

LOUISVILLE — Butler County placed third in the KHSAA Class 2A Indoor Track & Field State Championship at Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on Saturday, March 2. 

The Bears scored 35 points and finished behind runner-up Mercer County (53) and champion Covington Catholic (68) in the 2A boys' team standings. 

Individually for Butler County, Kyle Chambers and Parker Smith each delivered a first-place finish. 

Several Butler County student-athletes will be carrying momentum over into the upcoming outdoor track & field season. 

Butler County's individual performances from the KHSAA Class 2A Indoor Track & Field State Championship follow. 

Boys' 60 Meter Dash: 17th - Gage Beasley, 7.44.

Boys' 400 Meter Dash: 1st - Kyle Chambers, 51.33.

Boys' 800 Meter Run: 1st - Parker Smith, 1:58.28.

Boys' 3,000 Meter Run: 13th - Parker Smith, 10:02.90.

Boys' 60 Meter Hurdles: 5th - Gage Beasley, 8.83; 19th - Kane Justice, 10.45.

Boys' 4x400 Meter Relay: 3rd - Butler County, 3:35.68. 

Boys' 4x800 Meter Relay: 4th - Butler County, 8:27.26. 

Boys' High Jump: 12th - Tyler Skipworth, 5-6; 17th - Carson Davis, 5-0. 

Boys' Long Jump: 20th - Clay Steff, 18-0; 22nd - Carson Davis, 17-0.5.

Boys' Triple Jump: 15th - Clay Steff, 36-8.75.
