Butler County NSDAR Luncheon

Butler County NSDAR held a luncheon on Tuesday,  December 2, 2014 at the Festival of Trees in the former Dollar General building. Jane Henderson opened the ceremony by welcoming the various guests, many of which represented other NSDAR chapters in the area. Henderson stated that over 500 human hours had been invested over the 14 days prior to the date of the luncheon in preparing the Festival of Trees. The members of the Festival of Trees Committee were asked to stand for recognition.

Barbara Glass Zink, State Regent was then invited to the podium. Zink stated that she was honored to be there, and that it's amazing what these women accomplish. She invited those in attendance to enjoy the trees.

Jane Henderson took the podium once again to introduce Judge Executive David Fields. Fields welcomed the guests, especially those who were in Butler County for the first time. Fields underlined the amount of work that the women do in the community. "Hard work makes success" said Fields. "They do a great job, and all the work they do is always for somebody else."

Following Fields' address, Jane Henderson asked the present NSDAR regents to stand and introduce themselves. Lois Russ, Flag Chairman then conducted the pledge of allegiance. Following this, Peggy Drake led the invocation before the guests were directed to the meal.

Following the meal, an animation was displayed on the projector highlighting the local impact of the Butler County NSDAR. This also included a small quantity of local history, including the 100 year anniversary of a cease fire in WWI that occurred as a result of someone singing "Silent Night".
