Butler County NJROTC is going Over The Edge

On Saturday, September 22, 2018 a member of Butler County High School's NJROTC will

be rappelling Stadium Park Plaza to raise funds and awareness for children who have been sexually abused. The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center serves the ten county BRADD region providing services to child sexual abuse victims by offering a safe, child-friendly location where professionals work together to pursue justice and offer treatment. The Center strives to hold offenders accountable for crimes against children. The Center has trained forensic interviewers who interview child victims, so they are not forced to repeat traumatic experiences multiple times in several different interview settings. In addition, they have volunteer physicians who conduct medical exams, as needed, as well as mental health professionals who are trained in the assessment and treatment of those who have endured the trauma of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The Center also provides family advocates who coordinate all services and work with each family. All of the Center’s services are offered free of charge.

Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center (BRACAC) is funded through private donations, state and federal grants and foundation grants. Unfortunately, the Center is busier than they have ever been. Last year alone, the Center served 591 children including 33 from Butler County. With a 21% annual growth rate over the past 4 years, they are trying to identify opportunities to raise additional funds so that every child victim receives trauma-informed care and every effort is made to bring the perpetrator to justice.

As a result, BRACAC is hosting this community’s first “Over the Edge” event. Butler County
