Butler County man accused of robbing Lewisburg Bank

Lawrence R. Freeman, 64, of 1043 Dimple Road, Morgantown, was arrested Tuesday morning in Russellville and charged with first degree robbery. At approximately 9:45 a.m. the Logan County Sheriff’s Department was notified of an armed robbery at the Lewisburg Banking Company in Lewisburg, Kentucky.

Bank employees were able to give a very detailed description of Freeman, as well as his vehicle including a partial registration plate number, according to a report from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.

At approximately 10:48 a.m., off –duty Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy Clint Wright spotted Freeman near the Colonial Inn parking lot in Russellville.  Freeman was taken into custody by the Russellville Police Department without incident and lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.

An undisclosed amount of money and a handgun was recovered from Freeman.  The vehicle was determined to be stolen from Nashville.

Freeman was interviewed by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).  The investgation is ongoing.
