Butler County knocks off Whitesville Trinity

WHITESVILLE - Visiting Butler County knocked off Whitesville Trinity 60-41 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Monday, Feb. 8.

The win allowed Butler County to even its overall record to 4-4.

Whitesville Trinity dropped to 2-7 with the loss.

Butler County featured three scorers in double figures. 

Jaelyn Taylor scored 21 points to pace the Lady Bears.

Accompanying Taylor in double figures in scoring for Butler County, Taylin Clark netted 12 points and Taylor Leach contributed 10 points. 

Jenna Phelps (eight points), Gracie Cardwell (four points), Graci Leach (two points), Addison Miller (two points) and Olivia Renfrow (one point) provided the additional scoring for the Lady Bears. 

Defensively, Butler County thrived throughout the district matchup.

Whitesville Trinity shot 28.3 percent (13-of-46) from the field. The Lady Raiders were 0-for-7 from 3-point range. 

Cassidy Morris led Whitesville Trinity, scoring 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Morris was the only Whitesville Trinity player to reach double figures in scoring.

Katherine Hibbit (six points), Josie Aull (five points), Maddie Logsdon (three points), Kenzie McDowell (three points), Hadley Hatfield (two points) and Ella Reed (one point) provided the additional scoring for Whitesville Trinity in the setback.

Both Butler County and Whitesville Trinity are scheduled to compete in the 12th District Girls' Basketball Tournament in March.
