Butler County High School Prom 2022

Prom King Willie Brown and Prom Queen Taylor Ferrell

Butler County High School held its 2022 Junior-Senior Prom last weekend on Saturday, May 30th. While the event provided a return to normalcy after the pandemic, it was also one for the books. This year’s prom was held in Bowling Green for the first time at Western Kentucky University’s Knicely Conference Center.

The theme was Hollywood, and the venue was complete with a red carpet and a brightly lit Hollywood sign. The names of this year’s senior class were written on stars that dotted the floor in the “Walk of Fame”.

Willie Brown, son of Stacy and Richard Brown, was crowned Prom King. Taylor Ferrell, daughter of Brian and Teresa Ferrell, was crowned Queen, and the pair was given a dance together.

Nathan Wayne Orten, son of Cecil and Sharon Orten, was crowned Junior Prince, and Shelby Parrigan, daughter of Ben and Lauren Parrigan, was crowned Junior Princess.

Kaylee Embry, a senior that attended the Prom, gave us her thoughts on this year’s event. “I really enjoyed having Prom in Bowling Green. I think it was more convenient for a lot of people going to eat and get pictures. It also was nice to be able to drive right down the road and get Starbucks before heading back for Project Prom! And the venue was absolutely beautiful inside. This was definitely my favorite Prom.”

As per tradition, Project Prom was held afterward at the High School. Attendees made their way back from Bowling Green for a full night of food and fun at the Hollywood After Party. In addition to games, such as Pictionary, Trivia, Karaoke, and Mini Golf, students were brought into the auditorium to enjoy a Talent Show and Lip Sync Battle brought to them by their fellow students. Brady Jones played piano as Carley Jones sang, and the pair placed first in the Talent Show. Zack Phelps and Isaac Dockery won the Lip Sync Battle with a performance set to “Islands in the Stream”. Other highlights included Willie Brown and Isaac Dockery doing stand up comedy and Brady Jones and Solomon Flener lip syncing to “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin.

Not only were there many events to enjoy, over 10,000 dollars in cash and prizes were given away. Students played to win and gathered in the auditorium at the end of the night to hear the giveaway winners. Items up for grabs included minifridges, coffee makers, televisions, laptops, sunglasses, speakers, and several gift cards. The BCHS Project Prom committee put out a Thank You to all individuals and businesses that donated and volunteered to make the night possible.

This year’s Prom and Project Prom allowed Butler County High School students to make some unforgettable memories.
