Butler County High School NJROTC

 Dakota Ibarra with Sons of the American Revolution

Tuesday May 14th at 6:00pm, the Butler County High School NJROTC hosted their biannual Award Ceremony.There were73 cadets awarded with ribbons and medals ranging from: appearance, physical fitness, leadership and knowledge. Medals were awarded by the following organizations: The Military Officers Association, Military Order of World Wars, The Bronze Sons of the American Revolution,  The Reserve Officer Association, Theodore Roosevelt Youth Award, Order of the Daedalians, Good Citizen Award, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and The Scottish Rite.
    Candace Ibarra, the current Commanding Officer, passed the command to Jocelyn Kuprion. Jocelyn will be the interim commanding officer until August. Candace will be graduating on May 24th, and continuing on to college. The unit is filled with pride that Candace was awarded a Florida A&M University NROTC Scholarship.
    Prior to the awards presentation, the invocation was given by Senior Chief Caitlynn Price, following the invocation there was a rifle drill demonstration by Senior Chief Johnni White and Cadet Kalee Saltsman. The color guard detail was performed by Senior Chief Ashley Smith and Chiefs Wyatt Southerland, Kenneth Johnson, and Quentin Jett.
     The night was filled with pride and honor from all who attended the ceremony. NJROTC leaders as well as unit members want to thank all who came out and supported the young men and women of Butler County High School. We are looking forward to more success in the upcoming 2013-14 school year.
