Butler County Health Department: Offers Gift Ideas
Give the gift of independence, improved physical activity and wellness this Holiday season to the older adults in your life. Did you know in Butler County there were 22 falls in the older adult population resulting in average hospital charges of $29,169 in the year 2011? Listed below are a few ideas of gifts that help prevent falls and to keep the older adults in your life healthy and in their home longer.
· Floor treatments like “Shark Grip” or slip resistant mats for the shower to prevent falls
· Socks with grippers
· Bath rails—with installation provided
· Pull up rails for the bed
· Canes or walkers
· Tickets to a movie, play or sporting event to keep active
· Crossword puzzles for their mind
