Butler County Farm Service Agency Announces Nominees for Upcoming Election

 The Butler County Farm Service Agency will be holding a County Committee election in November for Local Administrative Area (LAA)1.   Butler County is made up of  3 areas for which the elections rotate each year.   This year the election area, LAA 1, consists of all farms south of Hwy 70 and sotheast of Carson Bridge Road.

 

The County Committee is a farmer elected committee that is key in the successful administration of farm programs.  Committee members assist in carrying out programs assigned to the FSA.  They have duties that include informing farmers of programs and provisions, keeping up with weather and crop conditions in their LAA, recommending needed changes to farm programs, and participating in monthly meetings.

 

The Morgantown Service Center in Butler County would like to introduce nominees for the upcoming County Committee Election:

 

Kevin McKinney: Kevin is married to his wife Donna of 33 years. They have 2 sons Nathan and Gavin and one granddaughter, Hadley, who is 14 months old. Kevin has been farming in Butler County for over 28 years. His current crops for 2018 consisted of 1250 acres of soybeans, 180 acres of corn, 380 acres of hay, pasture and 60 head of cattle.

Kevin is a member of Kentucky Farm Bureau, Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association and the Butler County Stockman’s Association.

 

 

Dwayne McKinney: Samuel “Dwayne” Mckinney was born in Morgantown, KY. He currently resides in Provo, KY. He is married to LaBrisha McKinney and has one son named Samuel. He is the owner/operator of Dwayne’s Excavation LLC and also McKinney Farms LLC. He has been self-employed for 30+ years and farms about 800 acres in corn, soybeans and wheat. When he is not farming he is excavating. His excavation work consists of building ponds, lakes, roads, clearing and/or leveling for buildings and homes, and he even develops occasional food plots for hunters. He is currently the President of the Butler County Republican Party. He serves on the board for the Butler County Farm Bureau and is the chairperson for the Butler County Extension Office. He also serves on the committee for the Butler County Entrepreneurs and is the Vice President for the Provo Rural Development Club. Both nominees are exceptional and have experienced the ups and downs of farming.  Please give them your support by voting.  Ballots will be mailed on November 5, 2018 and must be received by the county office at 216 W Ohio St, Morgantown KY or postmarked by December 3, 2018.  If you did not receive a ballot and feel that you should have please stop by the Farm Service Agency to inquire.
