Butler County falls to Whitesville Trinity in district tournament

LEITCHFIELD — Butler County fell behind early and couldn't overcome its slow start as Whitesville Trinity pulled away to win 3-0 in the semifinals of the 12th District Volleyball Tournament at Grayson County High School on Monday, Oct. 17.

The loss eliminated Butler County from the 12th District Volleyball Tournament. Butler County exited the 2022 high school volleyball season 6-24.

Whitesville Trinity defeated Butler County 25-10, 25-12, 25-11.

Following the win, Whitesville Trinity improved to 26-7. The win allowed the Whitesville Trinity to advance to the 12th District Volleyball Tournament title match.

In the final match of the 12th District Volleyball Semifinals, Edmonson County outlasted tournament host Grayson County 3-2 (25-14, 25-16, 15-25, 24-26, 15-9).

Whitesville Trinity is scheduled to meet Edmonson County in the 12th District Volleyball Tournament title match at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Both Whitesville Trinity and Edmonson County will advance to the 3rd Region Volleyball Tournament.

Senior Alyssa Thacker represented Butler County on the All-12th District Volleyball Tournament Team.
