Butler County Drug Coalition: Vaping Nicotine and Anxiety/Stress

Anxiety and stress seem to be at an all time high. Vaping nicotine can negatively affect anxiety and stress. Vaping nicotine may stimulate the chemical dopamine in the brain that can create a feeling of relaxation. Yet, dopamine doesn't last long, maybe a few hours, and a craving to vape again follows. If repeated vaping doesn't occur, the symptoms of anxiety and stress increase. This can quickly become a dependency. Vaping nicotine creates an addictive cycle, and then vaping is perceived as beneficial, but it is harming the developing brain instead of helping anxiety and stress.
