Butler County drops game to Todd County Central

MORGANTOWN — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as visiting Todd County Central held on to win 54-49 in a non-district girls' high school basketball game on Monday, Dec. 11. 

Moving ahead early, Todd County Central outscored Butler County 9-6 in the opening quarter.

Extending its lead, Todd County Central led 31-12 at halftime.

However, Butler County mounted a comeback bid during the second half. 

Maintaining a double-digit advantage, Todd County Central led 36-26 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

But Butler County pushed for the win late. 

Prior to falling short, Butler County managed to outscore Todd County Central 23-18 in the final period. 

Taylor Leach scored 15 points to lead the Lady Bears. 

Accompanying Leach in double figures for Butler County, Ann Marie Skaggs netted 11 points.

Narrowly missing double figures for Butler County, Parker Willoughby scored nine points. 

Finishing in single digits, Ava Wilson (seven points), Bailey Moore (two points), Maddie Jones (two points), Karrington Hunt (two points) and Addison Miller (one point) provided Butler County's additional scoring. 

 

Butler County is scheduled to visit Muhlenberg County on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Tip-off for the Butler County-Muhlenberg County girls' basketball game is set for 6 p.m.
