The Butler County Chapter NSDAR recently recognized Anna Darlene Scott of Morgantown as their 2023 Community Service Award recipient. Mrs. Scott, as a member of the Butler County Piecemakers, spoke of their work creating quilts for numerous Veterans. Anne Hamilton, KSDAR State Community Service Award Chair, was there to present the certificate and pin to Mrs. Scott. Family and friends as well as other members of the quilting group attended to see the presentation. To date, over 219 quilts have been presented by the group to Veterans of WW II, Korean, and Vietnam Wars as well as other more recent military action. The quilts are usually presented at the Memorial Day program, Veterans Day program or in some cases delivered to those who are unable to attend local events.
